Sleeper Creeper

On the 6th of December which was Tuesday we went to Cavan town hall because there was a play going on called the Sleeper Creeper. There music but no talking it was sleepy but it wasn't creepy. It was a bit sad in the middle but at the start and end it was happy. It was good.

Super Troopers

This week we got a new piece of homework and it is called super troopers. But really it is not like homework at all because it has such easy exercises such as together apart, get up and much much more. They also give recipes that your parents can let you do and last but not least every 2 weeks
there is a challenge you can try at home. For other tips, games and activities visit www.supertroopers.ie and become a super trooper today I would if I was you because the recipes are great.

Under the Hawthorn Tree

We are reading a book called Under the hawthorn tree. It’s based on the famine time. Here’s a short synopsise of the story; there are three children called Eily, Michael and Peggy. Their dad went out working and their sister Bridget died. The mother went looking for the father, the children had to go to the workhouse. They ran away from the workhouse, Mary Kate found them and is looking after them now. We also did old fashioned letters about the novel, we got a piece of paper and cut it then we put tea bags on them to make them look old. They look great! Maybe you’ll see them.
              Bye for now,

2.   It takes John 25 minutes to walk to the car park and 45 to drive to work. At what time should he get out of the house in order to get to work at 9:00 a.m.?

3.   Kim can walk 4 kilometers in one hour. How long does it take Kim to walk 18 kilometers?

Our Last Day Of Swimming

On Tuesday it was our last day of swimming lessons. The whole class were so excited!
We were split into two groups as usual, in my group we were mostly doing front crawl and breast stroke. We have made so much progress since we started the lessons.
As it was our last day our lesson ended early and we could go on the slides. We had such good fun racing each other! We each got three turns on the slides,
Then we played in the pool and practised our handstands, we all have gotten really good at them. We really enjoyed our lessons!!
Thanks for reading :)

Halloween Poem

Happy Halloween
All the fireworks
Light up the sky
Let’s go trick or treating

We knock on the door
Everyone gives us sweets
Everyone has a good time
Now it’s time to have a party

Mayan Masks

We are learning about Mayan Masks in history. For Mayan masks there are 3 types of styles 1. Event 2. Death 3.Battle. 1. Event = an event mask is used for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays etc.  2. Death = death masks are used mostly for funerals. 3. Battle =a battle masks is used for battle. Battle masks have to be scary so they could scare off the other opponent. And that’s what we’ve been doing with paper Mache. Here are some finishing results:

Swimming and Studyladder

Our 2nd week of fifth class has been so fun.  We got to learn and do cool things. First of all we went SWIMMING! We are going to go swimming every Tuesday now, everyone was so happy and excited. Girls that could swim full or half lengths went to one group and girls that couldn’t do lengths went to another group. The second fun thing was that we went to computers to go on Studyladder. Studyladder is a really fun website where you play really fun multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and you can make your own avatar. I am sure everyone in my class knows that this week was the best week of fifth class, Catch up on our blog next week! Bye.

Our first week in 5th Class

So far our class have been doing some fun things during the first week of school. We did some PE games such as rounding and pole grab. We also played some games in class like match the picture in Irish and 2 chance saloon. We were also learning about idioms. An idiom is something that isn’t really what it sounds like. For example Zip it! That means to be quiet.

More memories from 5th Class

My memory from 5th class was when everyone was excited to go in the class and when we did everyone wanted to sit beside each other but we couldn’t and we had to pick a number between 1 and 6 and which number you picked was how many toilet paper pieces you get and you had to write things about yourself on the pieces of toilet paper you’ve had
By;Chloe Caudilla

My best memory of 5th class was the first day that I came to this school. I remember everyone being so friendly and asking a lot of questions. I felt like I was at home, I could be myself and be comfortable. If you ever join this school I’m sure you could learn a thing or two from everyone, I know I did. I had so much fun in this school!

My best memory in fifth class was the school tour, sports day and my favourite thing of all doing friends for life.  P.s. I’m going to miss being in fifth class!
By Ruby Brady Flood!

I won’t forget the amazing friends I made in 5th class and new people I am only starting to understand such as the talented people I know, relatable and fun to talk to friends, and those who teach me new wisdom - teacher or student! I won’t forget the memories I had here, ever. My favourite memory has to be the first day, being introduced to something new.                                                                               I thank all of you for this new start.

I remember the first day of 5th class when everybody was so happy to see their friends! They were all hugging and smiling! I also remember writing a story about surviving my first day of 5th class! I will miss Miss. Fitzpatrick so much! I hope she has as much fun as we did with her new class!

I can’t believe it is the end of the year with all the amazing memories I made, like my school friends, my school tour, the mud run, that was really fun, all of us enjoyed it. My amazing teacher who taught us a lot of things all the trips we took to the library she read a lot to us I wish everybody luck for next year no matter what the do. I will never forget my year in 5th class. My favourite memory of this year was our school tour. We went to Loch Crew and did obstacle courses in a forest. At the end of the fun we had a barbeque. I also will never forget my teacher
By: Gabriela Stanczyk

5th class is the best. We had fun all year, and now it’s come to an end. Mrs Fitzpatrick is my favourite teacher. During the year we had challenges but we got through them together. Hopefully next year will be as great! I will miss all my friends throughout summer. Hopefully next year we will be together and not split up. One of my favourite memory is our school tour. We went zip lining and we had to walk in muddy water and we got wet and muddy, but it was all worth it at the end we had to change and after that we had a BIG barbeque!!!!! I will miss Miss Fitzpatrick and I hope she has a lovely summer!!!

I’m gonna miss our teacher. We had so much fun with her. I have so many memories in 5th class. At the start of the year we wrote something on a piece of paper and put it on a box and at the end of the year we get to open the box and see if our writing changed. I will miss 5th class. One of my favourite memory was our school tour and all the other fun stuff we did with teacher.

I’ve had a lot of fun this year in 5th class but there’s one moment I could never forget, going to the library with my class. My partner was Seana. We walked there and when we arrived we had to pick out a book. I got mine and sat down at the window seat with my besties, Jessica, Seana, Aleen, Alex and Oliwia. Teacher took a picture of us and put it on the blog, I think it was the nicest photo I have ever been in. I hope the next 5th class have as much fun as we did. I’ll miss teacher and wish her the best of luck. BYE 5TH CLASS.

I remember me and my mom went to Bernie’s office and I seaw Mehik , Gabriella S and others. I was so happy to sit down on my first day back . Everyone asked me what their name was. I remember sitting at the green table with Chloe Collins, Jessica, Dana and Chinaza . Over time now my BFFUUIG (Best friends forever until Undertale is gone) are Leigh Anne , Angelina and Roula !!! I don’t know what I’d do without them, or any of my friends. I hope 6th class has more surprises awaiting for us!!!

Our memories from 5th Class

One of my favourite memories from 5th class was when we just came into the classroom and all of us had to look for our tables, when I finally found my tables I was happy because I got to sit beside Bernice for the first term of the school year.
Another  one of my favourite memories was when we did friends for life. Friends for life was a programme that we did on friendship and support. At the beginning of friends for life we always said our happy thing and it helped because some of them were funny.
Another memory from 5th class was when we watched the play Ye Ha by the 5th and 6th class girls, I wasn’t in the play so I got to watch and help out. While the girls were practicing for the play the power went out but the girls kept practicing and eventually the light turned back on.
Another memory was when the drama company did the play Cinderella, every time Cinderella came down the stage everyone would want her to high five them and when the prince came down everyone started screaming and pushing others so he could touch their hand I fell off my chair because my friend pushed me by accident.
Another memory I had was when we watch the junior infants play. All the children were so cute and some of the did not know the word of the song but it was good.
My last last memory was when Ms.Masterson came and taught us, it was very fun and we all enjoyed it.
I will miss 5th class and my teacher Ms .Fitzpatrick. I hope we all enjoy the summer holidays and have fun and we will see each other again in 6th class.  It has been a great year and I really enjoyed it.

I had so much fun this year in fifth class. It was a bounding experience for me .I learned so much and made lots of friends. This year was great with our super supportive teacher Miss.D.Fitzpatrick. We took a photo of us on our first week and sadly this is the last week. There are lots of things I like about fifth class; singing songs, playing games for example; take a chance, draughts, UNO, headbandz, making shapes, and lots others. We did presentations and we know we tried our best for sure. We did two projects one on France and the  other on Mexico. It was a lot of fun.  We had problem solving and if we got it right we got raffle ticket. Speaking of raffle tickets we had a raffle every Friday. We earned raffle tickets if we did super work. We had a gaeilgeoir na seachtaine. – It was if we made an effort to speak Irish our photo was put up in the class and I love the way everyone’s supportive. They are so happy for each other’s success. We love doing team work and trying our best. We did stations for example; math, English and irish. We also did FRIENDS FOR LIFE programme, to me that’s the best thing ever. We enjoyed a lot learning about feelings and caring for our friends. Thanks to Ms. Meehan and our principle ms.leanord and our deputy principle ms.brady. I loved all the  memories in fifth class, it was a great time.

This year has been such great fun. I had a fabulous time in fifth class. I made friends with the new girls. Our teacher was miss D .Fitzpatrick she is a great teacher. One of my memories was when we did the skipping ropes with a coach. it was such great fun I had to skip with two ropes in front off the whole school.
Another memory was when we did a project it was about france. we all brought them back on a certain date and presented them to the whole class. Another memory was when we did a time capsule. We did our handprints and footprints we would re-open it at the end of June. This year has been such fun. I had lots of friends who helped me a lot. That’s the end of fifth class for me.

Dancing Divas

On Wednesday we did dance. Me and my cousin Geraldine did a special dance for everybody. At first I was kind of nervous but then we got the hang of it, the song we danced to was Work from home by Fifth Harmony it was alright. Then when we finished girls in our class told us we were good. After us more girls from our class danced, they danced to a song called Now Watch Me by Silento the girls were good. Then when they were done we did dances with the dance teacher it is always fun to dance with her. She is a very good dance teacher to dance with everybody says that she also does dance at lunch time sometimes with the big ones sometimes with the small ones. The small ones enjoy the song I’m a gummy bear, the big ones enjoy the song cheap thrills it is very good exercise for everybody

Our School Tour

On Tuesday 31st of may both fifth classes went to Louch Crew  it was so exciting!  Ruby’s dad was the bus driver he drove us to Louch Crew.
When we got to Louch Crew we got of the bus
and  collected our bags. Then we got our partners and lined up. Then two managers brought us where we could leave our bags. We left our bags in the little shed. We
were brought to a field and split into groups by the managers. Our manager’s name was Shane. So the
first thing we did was bow and arrow shooting all of
us  got three arrows to shoot as a practice run. Then
the person that shoots the nearest to middle got an extra ride on the zip line. Coyne in Mr.McGovern’s class got the extra ride on the zip line. Next we did the witches potion challenge. It was an obstacle course challenge and you would have two cups of water. And you and your team would have two try and get the cups to the next stage of the obstacle run without spilling any water. But the person holding a cup can’t move their legs. It was a little bit hard.
Then we did the zip line the first4 got3 and the rest got 2.
Then we went and got a snack. Then Shane (our group manager) got us two paddles and there was a big hill
And he would count to ten and we would be spinning while he would be counting then when he would stop counting we would run up the hill and slide back down two people at a time. Then we did another race there were two three trunks. And a rope under and over you there were one person at each tree the first person to reach the other tree wins or the first person’s feet that touches the ground is out. And it’s hard! Then for the 2nd last we did rock climbing, it was fun. Finally the last activity as I call it the muck adventure it was a lot activities put together and it was covered in muck. When we were finished (the muck adventure) we got washed, ate our barbecue, got our photograph, played up the big hill and went home.

5th Class Euro Soccer Championship

On Tuesday we started a soccer competition called euro 2016. We have 12 teams, each with 4 to a team. Each team is named after a European country, e.g. Ireland, England. Two teams at a time play against each other to see who wins. Mr McGovern referees. While the two teams are playing soccer, Ms Fitzpatrick referees rounders. She splits us into two different teams and one team bats while the other team catches. After you bat, you have to run as fast as you can to the first base. When the next person bats, you have to run to second base and so on. Two people can’t be at the same base at the same time. After three teams play soccer, we all do some stretches. The teams that have won so far are England Slvakia and Northen Ireland have won. Hopefully Ireland will win in their friendly match tonight in the Aviva stadium!!
